" Creating realistic charcoal drawing drawings or paintings is extremely challenging since you would have to precisely mimic what exists in the real world. The margin for error in hyper-realism is so small that even the slightest of mistakes could ruin the whole artwork. I have been drawing for many years now and I hope to learn more and grow as a classic artist in the future. I love making realistic sketches and this art-form reflects my personality "
The Margazhi Series
" According to the Tamil calendar, the Margazhi season starts from the 16th of December every year and continues for 30 long days. During this time of the year in south India ,so many established Carnatic musicians perform in various places, especially in temples.
Carnatic is one of the main sub-genres of Indian classical .This traditional system of music is closely associated with southern India.
For the past 5 years I have been making portraits of established Carnatic musicians in the fraternity. My objective was to mainly support the group of traditionalist who spread love through music. So far I have sketched many of the best upcoming artists and will continue to sketch many more in the future. I have been doing it for half a decade and I still have lots of amazing people to sketch. I truly admired what those artists do for a living. Couple of years ago , I decided to gift the celebrities their portraits because I strongly felt that giving someone my time was the best way I could show them my support. That was when I hosted an event at a popular Chennai (South Indian City) based garment store called Sarangi that sells traditional Indian outfits. The store was already actively sponsoring a lot of cultural and music events held in reputed auditoriums in the city.
The small collection of black and white sketches have been made using a technique called cross-hatching wherein I superimpose straight lines one on top of the other to achieve a certain kind of unique visual texture. In most of these sketches you would notice that the performers have their eyes closed and chin facing up. The goal was to precisely capture the mood of the artists and show that they are in a state of trace while they are singing
The art show sponsored by Sarangi Store went really well. We had hundreds of visitors in just a short span of 10 days.
Sarangi 2019
The art show sponsored by Sarangi Store went really well. We had hundreds of visitors in just a short span of 10 days. Sarangi has been there for almost a decade now and they have a huge client base. With their help I was able to invite many established dancers and musicians from the city. I got the opportunity to not just use the space to showcase my works but also meet and spend quality time with people who genuinely appreciate Indian classical art forms. This was a solo show wherein I showcased my cross-hatched pen and ink sketches of South-Indian classical artists. The art-show was inaugurated by , Art Director Kamla Ravikumar, my art teacher who taught me the fundamentals of art and design when I was attending elementary school.

Tatvik 2017
Tatvik means "Realism" in Sanskrit, one of the oldest Indian languages. This was officially my very first solo art show and it was held at Art Houz ,an art studio in Chennai. I showcased many of my best life-sized charcoal drawings comprising of popular international celebrities and artists. The event was inaugurated by Keshav Venkatraghavan, a renowned Indian cartoonist and artist.

Hyper-realism is an art-form that basically erases the thin line of demarcation between a realistic drawing and an actual photograph. I have striven to combine all my overwhelming thoughts and produce impressive results on a piece of paper which won't just be a mere collection of pencil strokes. The margin for error is so small that even the smallest of mistakes could ruin the entire piece. Creating such highly detailed artworks helped me improve patience over the years. I have always felt that there's nothing more effective than using art an effective tool to visually communicate and connect with people on an emotional level.

Indian Classical Artists
" I fell in love with making digital illustrations the day I got new tablet. It was a different experience trying a new medium for creating art. Making digital art was very easy and convenient, but... Of course, nothing beats drawing on paper and following old school methodologies "
Phases of a Panda
Took inspiration from random wildlife pictures posted on the net and created a series of cute looking posters for kids.
Side Profiles
Quick digital sketches of Instagram models . Making a side profile look interesting is a difficult challenge because the margin for error is so small , If you make a mistake it is going to stand out and there's no going back.
Cartoons
Funny and cool illustrations of friends I have known since childhood
Hipsters
I was able to digitally sketch many of the incredibly talented people I know personally or through mutual friends. I have a feeling that this series will never end. This is an attempt to connect with as many artists as possible from Madras, London and New York . Sketching people I know personally could possibly be the best way I can show them my love and support. I started this series years ago when I felt like it is important for everyone to recognize and celebrate the artist rather that the artwork created by him or her. The art is going to exist forever , we are the ones who are mortals.
